Yesterday was the Third Annual Cherry Ride for Liver Cancer. There were 31 bikes registered and a total of 40 Motorcyclists rode this year, total donations amounted to more then the previous two years combined! Over $800 for liver cancer research!
Created by Michael Sack, in respects for his sister Cherrie Jones who passed away from Liver Cancer Aug 6th, 2008. Since then her family and friends have been riding their motorcycles to collect donations for funding Liver Cancer. Every year there are more riders and more support for this cause which is close to the hearts of many.
A note from Michael Sack himself;
The money will be going to American Liver Foundation. The focus on all liver diseases.
My sister Cherrie was the most balanced person I have ever met. Financially, mentally, love, life, moods…everything. She was only positive and never negative.
Four days before Cherrie passed, I talked with her about starting a fundraiser (initially a bicycle ride) to raise money for liver cancer research and awareness (cherryride.org will have step by step instructions for what to do immediately upon diagnosis. There is no page on the Internet like this as of now). I told her that I decided a motorcycle ride might be better for recruiting people. I then asked her if I could use her name for this fundraiser and she gave me permission as long as we could help others from going through what she, and our family went through. Cherrie was the opposite of somebody who wanted fame. However, I told her that I would make sure that people from all over would know the name Cherrie Jones, even though they have never met her. That statement is now true.
THANK YOU for the great photos!
I, along with all of the others appreciate it.
Michael

This years pin, a cherry skull, was $5 donation to receive one if you weren’t riding, and if you were riding, it came with your registration fee. Jeremy and I made sure to get ours!
I spent the beginning hour with them to photograph the event and donate my time to capture some great photos! There were so many bikes there! Below are some snapshots of the event!
